Consumer Finance Underwriter

The Business:

Loans 2 Go is the established market leader in the logbook loans sector. The product range has been expanded recently to include logbook loans, hire purchase, homeowner and personal loans and we receive more than 40,000 enquiries per month.

The target market is hard pressed consumers who are underserved by mainstream lenders and small business owners with cash flow challenges. Loan terms range from 12 – 36 months although early repayment is available without any penalty. Loans 2 Go is fully authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

The Role:

The primary responsibility of this role is to underwrite and decision consumer loans in a sound, consistent and compliant manner and in accordance with the company’s loan policy and procedures.


  • Analyse and evaluate borrower financial information, determine risk eligibility and recommend final loan decisions by collecting and interpreting documents such as borrower’s income and expenditure declaration, bank statements, payslips and tax returns
  • Determine rate, calculate payments and loan to value
  • Establish and clear all approval contingencies
  • Maintain accurate product sheets, rate sheets and necessary documentation and disclosures
  • Prepare and distribute departmental reports on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
  • Provide prompt, friendly service and support to senior management and loan administration
  • Complete online training courses, and attend other training as deemed necessary by management

Attributes and Experience:

  • Consumer underwriting experience
  • Strong communication, analytical skills, and reasoning ability
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Regulatory compliance knowledge

  • Ability to calculate simple to complex mathematical equations

Hours: Shifts 40 hours weekly rota operating Mon – Saturday 8 – 8pm, flexibility is required.
