Summer is almost here, and we’re all looking forward to the long, light and hopefully sunny days.
But for many of us, summer brings with it various challenges. Our bodies have been well wrapped up over winter and suddenly there is the pressure to expose more of them in the sun. We’ve all seen the kind of “get your body beach ready” articles that flood newspapers, magazines and the internet at this time of year. But even if you take all that with a pinch of salt, there is still the niggling feeling that we should change our grooming routine in various ways now that summer is here.
Perhaps some of this applies more to women than men, but there are a lot of summer health and beauty products used by people of all genders and ages, such as sun protection, SPF moisturiser or lip balm, after sun, exfoliator, razor or hair removing products, fake tan, deodorant, insect repellent, antihistamines . . . . to name but a few.
And one of the big issues related to all this is money. Health and beauty products don’t come cheap. And in summer they all seem to come at once.
Fortunately there are various ways that you can save money on health and beauty products this summer. Here are a few of them to get you started:
Summer is an expensive time for many of us, so it could make sense to team up with friends and family in your quest to save money on health and beauty products. Just decide what you are all looking for and how you will sort out the money between you. Then try one or more of these ideas:
It could also be worth organising a product swapping evening, where a few of you get together to bring products that are still in good condition and there’s a lot left, but for whatever reason you don’t use.
Many of us shop online for pretty much everything, but for some reason still buy health and beauty products from supermarkets and other stores. It is definitely also worth checking online to see if you can get a better deal and save money on your health and beauty products.
Look at the websites of brands that you are looking for and also stores that you tend to shop in to see if there are any special online deals to be found. Also remember major online retailers such as Amazon offer competitive prices on many skincare and cosmetic items.
There are also many discount beauty suppliers online, such as BrandAlley and Beauty Outlet. You may be able to find what you are looking for at a much better price than you would expect.
Also bear in mind that when shopping online you can sometimes make further savings by adding a discount voucher from sites such as Groupon, Wowcher or Voucher Codes.
A dupe is an affordable product that mirrors a more expensive product. So if there is a health or beauty product that you would love to buy but don’t want to pay the high price tag, it is worth Googling to see whether you could save money by trying a recommended dupe instead.
Some of the top beauty products Googled so far in 2025 – and the recommended dupes – are:
With a bit of research and experimentation you may well be able to find something very similar to your desired product at a fraction of the cost.
Beauty Pie is a luxury beauty Buyers’ Club which describes itself as a luxury Costco. It sells premium quality wellness and beauty products at discounted prices, and has been described by Elle magazine as “the best kept secret in the beauty industry”.
Beauty Pie offers top quality beauty products direct from the labs that create them, cutting out costs such as middlemen, retailers, premises and packaging. It is therefore able to bring significant savings directly to the customer.
Beauty Pie has a starter membership for £29 per year, which entitles you to four orders per year. Full membership is £59 per year. But if this means that you regularly save money on the products you use it could be well worth it.
Another option that could help you to save money is to sign up to a beauty subscription box. Two of the main types of beauty subscription boxes are:
You will usually get a variety of different beauty products each month, which means you can try out samples of different products and could find something you really like. There may also be extra seasonal boxes – such as Christmas – available to buy at special prices, which could help you save money on gifts for others.
Most cosmetic company beauty boxes not only offer a monthly selection of products but enable you to tailor your box to only include the products you particularly want. So this can be a good way to save money on products that you would probably buy anyway.
Beauty subscription boxes tend to start at around £15 per month, and you can usually sign up for 3, 6, or 12 months. Which could represent a saving on either buying regular products or enjoying one-off seasonal offers.
We hope that the ideas in this article help you to find ways to save money on health and beauty products this summer. And if your family has other financial needs at this time – for example you need to pay for a holiday – remember that Loans2Go offers personal loans that may be able to help.
