Loans 2 Go: Money saving date nights

Whether you are with a brand new partner or have been together for years, date nights should always be something special.

But that doesn’t mean that they have to come with a hefty price tag attached! In this article we explore Ten Money Saving Tips for great nights together that don’t cost the earth.

  • Movie night. Often do you see a movie advertised as about to open at the cinema. You’d love to go but just never get round to it. Perhaps that’s not a bad thing though, as tickets can be really expensive: and that’s before you start adding on refreshments on top. So why not create your own movie night at home, with either a film on demand or a DVD. Prepare all your favourite drinks and snacks, and sit back and enjoy!
  • Come dine with me. Eating out can also be incredibly expensive so why not take a tit from one of the nation’s favourite shows and host your own romantic dinner for two. Even better is the fact that you don’t have to put up with annoying people, embarrassing entertainment or intrusive TV cameras! Just plan a nice meal for the two of you, prepare as much in advance as you can and enjoy the evening.
  • Games night. Whether you like board games, card games, computer games, puzzles or jigsaws: find something that you both enjoy and plan an evening doing it. If you set aside a specific evening to enjoy and have fun – without trying to fit these things around the usual household chores – you will do just that!
  • Work out together. If you feel like doing something more energetic than the above games then why not do some exercise together? Whether it’s going to the gym, swimming, out for a walk or bike ride, or learning salsa dancing from Youtube just go for it! As well as being sheer enjoyment, you will feel fitter and stronger, and it will help to bring you both closer together.
  • Romantic walk. As well as good exercise, walking can be therapeutic and a real bonding time. Being in the fresh air clears your head, and many people find that it is easier to talk openly when they are walking side by side rather than sitting face to face. So head out either to your nearest countryside or park, or to an interesting part of your town, and you will soon reap the benefits. Perhaps even pack a picnic for well-deserved rest and refreshment along the way.
  • Find a free event. Many of us have no idea the range of free events that go on in our area. But we promise you there are many! Why not make it a monthly challenge to find and attend a free event that you will both enjoy? From local pubs with music to film and TV screenings, library talks, museums, art galleries – there is plenty of fun to be had without spending a penny.
  • Spa night. We are of course talking about a home spa. Raid your local supermarket or chemist for an array of skin, hair and bath products and enjoy a bit of pampering time together. Why not also treat each other to a back, head or foot massage for ultimate relaxation?
  • Dog or child sit. Sometimes it’s lovely just to have a change of scenery so why not offer to look after a friend’s child or dog for an evening – or even a weekend? Just think: you get to spend time in someone else’s home – and hopefully they will leave you lots of goodies in return. You will also be able to enjoy some time having fun with a young creature of some description – and be able to hand them back afterwards!
  • Magical mystery tour. It can be great fun to arrange a mystery tour round your local area, stopping off at places that mean something to you both – and perhaps ending up in your favourite local pub. A variant of this is to create a fun treasure hunt around your home with lots of little treats along the way. Either of these can be as much fun for the creator as for the person who is following the trail.
  • Looking back. No matter how long you have been together, it is always fun looking back on your mutual journey. Whether this is reminiscing about your first date, flicking back through old photos or compiling a playlist of your favourite songs it will bring back lots of happy memories and hopefully be a timely reminder of the things that you both love about each other.
