Black Friday: Deal or No Deal? That is the question!

Black Friday is upon us once again!   This American import has now become firmly established as the best day to find a good deal.  But how can you be sure that you will? How can you emerge from Black Friday with the deals you want but your own bank balance still in the black?

First things first.  A deal is only a good deal if you can afford it. There is a lot of hype around Black Friday: remember those scenes from 2014 of people fighting in supermarkets over televisions! Though we may express disbelief that this could actually happen, there is a kind of pressure to get the best deals and a sense of panic that we might miss out. But to really get a good deal on Black Friday you have to know what you need and not be distracted by other offers that are screaming out at you. Don’t be tempted to spend money you don’t have on things you don’t need, just because they are a bargain.

So once you have identified something that you do need – whether it’s for you, or your home, or perhaps a special Christmas gift – how can you find the best deal?

Many retailers have a special Black Friday page on their website.  So your first port of call is to look online at retailers that are likely to stock the item(s) you are looking for.  Below is an example list of retailers and their Black Friday pages to get you started:

Another way you can track down a specific product is to search for that product online.  So, for example, if you are looking for an iPhone X, just search for that and also try entering “Black Friday” into the search engine for specific Black Friday offers.  Some retailers are also offering pre-Black Friday deals so it is worth looking before the day itself.

Also be aware that if you do miss out a Black Friday deal, all is not lost.  Many retailers are now also offering Cyber Monday deals.  Although a recent concept to many of us, Cyber Monday has been around for over 10 years in the USA.  Its aim then was to encourage people to do more shopping online.  Even though most of us now do that, many web retailers are still offering Cyber Monday discounts which are well worth looking out for.

We hope that you do find your dream bargain this weekend.  If so, you will be in good company.  It is reckoned that last year in the UK a quarter of all consumers managed to pick up a good deal on Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday.  So we reckon it will be another busy day of online shopping this year!

If you need some additional funding to get a genuine bargain then maybe we can help.  As a responsible lender we will never encourage customers to take out more credit than they can afford, but on the other hand if there is an excellent deal on something that you urgently need then it could be more cost-effective for you to take out a small personal loan now to seal the deal.

There are various ways you can apply for a personal loan with Loans 2 Go – including online.  If we do approve your application for one of our premier or standard personal loans then we aim to get the money into your bank account the same day* – enabling you to make the most of Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
