Cheap UK holidays for a quick get away!

A quick loan from Loans 2 Go could get you away this summer!

The summer holiday season is upon us and thoughts will be turning to some kind of getaway.   With the glorious weather we have had recently in the UK, many people are thinking of taking a staycation this year instead of trying for a cheap package deal abroad.

But wherever you go, holidays cost money!  Let’s take a look at some of the cheaper options around for a UK holiday in 2017.   We’ll look at holiday accommodation, private accommodation, and volunteering.

Holiday accommodation

This is still most people’s first thought when they start considering a getaway.  There is a wide range available!  You may be able to find last minute deals in hotels that have not managed to fill all their rooms: try websites such as Booking.com and Lastminute.com.  Lastminute.com has a range of “Top Secret” hotels which can get you an extra 40% off  if you are prepared to be flexible about where you stay.

If you want to go bed and breakfast or just use a room in someone’s home then take a look at Airbnb, the website that enables you to rent holiday accommodation direct from property owners, which means that it is often at a reasonable price.

There are also hundreds of holiday parks, caravan parks and campsites all over the UK.  Try websites such as Campsites UK and UK Campsite to see what is available where and, again, you might be able to pick up a last minute bargain!

Private accommodation

This is probably the best way to get a cheap getaway in the UK!   Having a holiday in someone else’s house is a real home from home.

One way you can do this is to arrange a house swap with someone that you don’t know.  There are websites such as House Exchange and Home Swapper that enable you to get in touch with home owners in different parts of the country and arrange to stay in each other’s homes.  There are many TV shows about the concept, and it is a good way to have a cost-free holiday in a different part of the country.

Closely related to this is the idea of house sitting for someone else.  If you have family or friends in a different part of the country, then perhaps you could stay in their home while they are away.  It would give you a free holiday and them the reassurance of knowing that their home/garden/pets are being well looked after.

Volunteering

A great way to have a short break and enjoy doing something active is to volunteer for something that you’re interested in.

How about volunteering at a festival?  There are an increasing number of festivals and other events that need volunteers to help.  Whilst you don’t get paid you do get to experience all the fun of the festival for free!  Websites such as FESTAFF and Efestivals have details of the kinds of jobs available and how to apply.

There are many other areas where you can volunteer on a temporary basis: check out websites such as Do It and Join In to find out about community volunteering opportunities some of which you may be able to combine with a getaway.

Hopefully, the above list may give you some ideas for quick UK getaways that won’t break the bank!   But if you do need a bit of a boost to your finances this summer then why not consider a quick loan?  Loans 2 Go can offer you a quick loan of up to £1000, and providing your application is accepted you will be able to have your money the very same day.  All ready to book your holiday!
